We did it

It’s been a crazy few weeks, going from a single Tweet to organizing and pulling off an event for over 200 people to benefit a global cause.

Right now 1.1 billion people on the planet don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water. That’s one in six of us. Many communities in developing nations often have a plentiful supply of clean drinking water just below the ground, but no way to get to it. This is where charity: water and their partner organizations come in. Drilling a well can cost from $4,000 - $12,000 USD and many living on less than $1 a day cannot afford one in their community, even if the money is combined. [charity:water]

The current total for donations accumulated by Vancouver’s event is $4,011 and we hope to add a bit more to that once we get some numbers from a few other sources.

I would like to personally thank all of the sponsors:

Venue: Opus
Event: 6S Marketing
Event: Molson
Event: sixty4media
Video Contest: Strutta
News Release: Marketwire

Also, every single person who wrote about the event, tweeted, volunteered, and attended Twestivals around the globe yesterday, particularly in Vancouver where we absolutely had a packed house, is responsible for this wonderful contribution.

Thank you to all of my volunteers who helped me keep my sanity and made the evening enjoyable for everyone: Raul, Tanya, Jenn, Rachael, Lorraine, and Greg.

I always knew this city had a big heart and a strong social media population — this is what can happen when you combine the two. Thanks, Vancouver.
